Mountain View Light Rail Transit Double Track

As part of the larger Construction Management team, DEENSCORP’s staff provided construction management support for VTA’s Double Tracking Project Phase I and Phase II to provide a second light rail track between Mountain View Transit Center and Whisman Station. Our construction inspectors performed construction administration, civil work inspection, and extensive coordination with VTA, JPB/Caltrain, and City of Mountain View.

The project added a new storage track and also extended 1,400 feet of the existing light rail track to west of SR 85. In order to accommodate the second set of light rail tracks, Caltrain tracks were realigned between the existing Evelyn Station and SR 237. In the second phase of the project, the second set of light rail tracks was extended by 3,000 feet from SR 85 to Whisman Station.

This addition improved the bottleneck condition between the two stations, and increased reliability of transit connections for VTA light rail and Caltrain patrons. All major construction work under both Phase I and II completed on schedule and within budget.
